About the DUAL BallDUAL will hold its fifth annual charity ball on Saturday 16th October 2004 at the Four Seasons Hotel, in support of True Hearts Connection (THC). Mr. Charles Ormiston, Dartmouth alumnus and Managing Director, Bain & Company S.E. Asia, Inc. will be gracing this night as the Guest-of-Honor. THC is a volunteer-run organization that aims to guide under-privileged youths through life by pairing them with volunteer mentors. It is also endearing to note that DUAL counts its members amongst these volunteers, many of whom are young professionals and JC/university students. This year, THC is also working on a number of exciting projects, including (1) setting up best practices guide to provide the framework and guidelines for effective mentoring service delivery, protect the youths, and safeguard the integrity of the mentoring programs in Singapore, which it intends to share with existing mentoring organizations and those interested in setting up mentoring organizations; (2) pioneering new mentoring scheme to reach out to out-of-school / at-risk youths; and (3) expanding the mentoring scheme to include volunteers from polytechnics and children whose parents who are detained in Drug Rehabilitation Centre or are being remanded in Prison. Proceeds from the Glamour and Glitz Ball will fund these projects, in addition to THC's regular mentoring activities.
